Jesus Feeds 5,000
There are so many cool things we can share with kids in this story about Jesus feeding the 5,000! This is an exciting story for them because
1. It's a miracle
2. It teaches us about the goodness of God / Jesus
3. It prominently features a kid
4. It gives us an example to follow every day
This simple craft is coloring, cutting, gluing and rolling down the edges of a paper lunch sack to create a "basket" for loaves and fish, like the little boy brought when he came to hear Jesus teach.
You know the story!
5,000 men, plus women and children, gathered out in a rural area to hear Jesus preach and teach. They stayed all day and in the late afternoon they were getting hungry, but there was no place to get food. Jesus told His disciples, "YOU feed them."
They surveyed the crowd, but the only food they could find was from one little boy's lunch box--five little loaves of bread and two small fish. He gave it to the disciples.
Jesus asked the people to sit down in the grass. He thanked God for the food and asked Him to bless it. When He passed the food around, there was enough to feed every man, woman and child there--with 12 baskets of leftovers!
