Paralyzed Man's 4 Friends Tear the Roof Off to Get Him to Jesus

This 2-piece coloring scene features an insert that shows 3 different scenes through the window when you pull it down.

A paralyzed man's friends carried him to Jesus for healing, but they couldn't get through the crowds into the house where He was teaching.

But they didn't give up! They climbed up on top of the thatched roof, made a hole in it and lowered their friend down on a mat, right to the feet of Jesus! The Bible says, "When Jesus saw THEIR faith..." It took faith not only from the paralyzed man, but from the friends who believed so strongly that Jesus would heal their friend, they were willing to do whatever it took to get him there.

MATERIALS:

• Template 1 (House), Template 2 (Tab with scenes)

• Card stock or copy paper

• Crayons or markers

• Scissors

• X-acto knife (for YOU, for prep work)

DIRECTIONS:

• BEFORE CLASS, make 2 horizontal slits on each house where indicated, using an X-acto knife or a scissor blade. (Remember to protect the surface underneath with thick cardboard or other scrap.)

• Color and cut out the house and tab with scenes.

• Help the kids thread the tab through the slits in the house so that the tab pulls easily up and down, and you can see the scene in the house window.

For an extra activity, have the children take turns telling YOU the story using their craft. You could offer a little prize to anyone who does this, as extra incentive!
